This course addresses the needs of the technical writer in coming up with different types of business documents that work. It is designed to equip them with an understanding of the nature of communication itself as a foundation for effectiveness, and proceeds to cover the standards of effective writing, and what goes into technical documents: reports, research, proposals, feasibility studies, email and memoranda. The course also covers the ethics of business and technical writing.
By the end of this course, the participants should be able to:
– Understand the nature of communication and how it affects reader comprehension and acceptance
– Understand and identify the properties of effective technical writing
– Recognize and distinguish between effective technical and business writing, and what is not
– Use the various types of technical writing in their workplace effectively
